Hotel review

The WB Abu Dhabi — a theme develops

A stay sprinkled with more than a bit of cinematic magic…

The first Warner Bros. hotel. in the world is now open on Yas Island, located a stone’s throw from the spandex-covered Wonderland of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. But it’s more than a launching pad for Yas theme park adventures, the hotel offers an exciting collection of new restaurants and recreational facilities; he plays the curator of a museum full of Warner Bros. props and exhibits. vast entertainment dynasty; and with a generous program of character visits, it offers children the chance to come face-to-face with costumed heroes

The location

If your vacation priority list is more chill than cold, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better place to put your hat down temporarily than on Yas Island. And this WB hotel (full name The WB Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection by Hilton), is right in the heart of it – minutes from three theme parks (Warner Bros. World, Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld); Yas Mall and adventure hub, Clymb are just down the road; the superb collection of new restaurants at the Yas Bay Waterfront development is conveniently adjacent; and quite unexpectedly – the hotel’s rooftop bar, The Overlook – offers absolutely breathtaking views of the sunset over the Yas Links golf course and a green arm of mangrove forest stretching towards the roofs of the city.

Look and feel

Before you even step into the lobby, you’re greeted by some pretty august nuggets of reconstructed WB memorabilia. You’ll find the iconic couch from the cult sitcom’s opening montage Friends, Battison’s Batmobile, and a collection of luggage of select celluloid characters. Inside, there is a virtual marble fresco depicting engraved scenes of the stream and the screen; a spiral staircase filled with movie props and celebrity paraphernalia; and autoplay WestWorld piano bashing tiny renditions of ’90s garage grunge. What’s here is well thought out, the degree of detail and presentation is extravagant, and there’s plenty to grab the attention of kids and adults alike. But with a heritage offering so much to draw from (Harry Potter, Sopranos, Mad Max, Lord of the Rings, the entire DCEU, Tom and Jerry, Buggs and Daffy and Friends to name a few), it feels like there is room for growth, and we hope this aspect of magic will grow.

The installations

With the range of frankly dizzying attractions in the vicinity at close range, there’s not a whole lot of pressure on the hotel to provide a wide range of amenities. But there are actually some absolute crackers out there, the main one being the pool complexes. Ground-level water frolics include a “diving” movie screen in the pool (which was frustrated reel of Quacker’s appearances in Tom and Jerry during our stay for some reason) and a swim-up bar. The rooftop infinity pool offers an absolutely mesmerizing view of the sunset. and there’s a well-stocked fitness center, kids’ club, and kiddy pool.

The rooms

It’s not the most luxurious rooms, it’s not a luxury hotel, but they are neat, well appointed and the entertainment themes continue with flying colors. Each of the 257 keys offering artwork and design finishes falling under three distinct themes. “From Script to Screen” offers BTS and origin story insights for a range of Warner Bros. projects, illuminating the journey from written page to final plan. “Artist Confidential” showcases a collection of some of Warner Bros.’ most dazzling talent. on both sides of the camera. And ‘The Vault’ theme offers exclusive access to rare footage from Warner Bros.’ voluminous archives.

food and drink

There are actually five restaurants on site, but we would like to draw attention to three. As we’ve already mentioned, with an aquatic perch to contemplate the horizon, The Overlook offers some truly breathtaking moments. The Directors’ Club operates primarily as a steakhouse, and for a themed hotel the restaurant really doesn’t have to be as good as it is – the choice ‘steak flight’ trio is one of our favorite meaty finds so far in 2022. Sidekicks is the all-day dinner and its main menu is character encounters. These are the kinds of experiences – especially for young guests, those who are still able to suspend disbelief that there is a man under the costume – that are the fuel for eternal memories.

Room rates

Based on one night for two adults and one child, with breakfast, you can get standard semi-flex packages from around Dhs 1,000. This price also includes access to a Yas theme park for all guests, each night of stay.
