- The Chatwal is an upscale hotel in Midtown Manhattan, housed in an iconic building with an Art Deco chic vibe.
- Located two blocks from Bryant Park and Times Square, The Chatwal is close to major New York City attractions, but the refined and opulent interiors feel totally removed from the crowds.
- Rooms start at $ 525 per night, though the large room sizes and features like butler service, lavish decor, and a Broadway concierge are well worth it. I spent one night in a deluxe king room and would recommend it to anyone looking to indulge themselves in an upscale five star hotel.

A native of New York, I try to avoid crowded neighborhoods as much as possible. When I choose to treat myself to a stay at a local hotel, I prefer properties that feel like a respite from the hectic pace of the city.
Yet despite a busy Midtown address, The Chatwal was that hidden gem. Fancy a stay in New York, The Chatwal was the perfect place to spend a birthday. It felt removed from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, despite being located a few blocks from Bryant Park and the Theater District.
Combining Art Deco design, modern amenities and luxurious accommodations, The Chatwal has established itself as my top choice in Midtown Manhattan. It’s chic, but with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a great place for a stay or a business trip, families who need shared suites, and travelers who prefer an upscale, personalized stay.
As a luxury offering, typical room rates start at $ 525 in low season and rise above $ 600 during busy holiday periods. It’s crazy, especially compared to other hotels in the area, but well worth it for those looking for a high level of service. Indeed, all guests benefit from butler services, which include free steaming, ironing and shoe shine.
Additionally, The Chatwal is part of the Marriott Bonvoy group, so you can redeem and earn points. Marriott Bonvoy members can also benefit from exclusive rates, mobile check-in, and other benefits depending on availability.
I stayed in a Deluxe King Room, prepared for review, which sits in the middle of 13 room categories in total, ranging from the Superior Queen to the Two-story Penthouse Suite.
