Rusacks St Andrews Hotel Reviews, Scotland

The area

In terms of golf, the location of Rusacks cannot be improved. It’s pretty handy for everything else too. St Andrews is a compact city. Its other main points of interest – the ruins of the cathedral and the castle, the port and pier, the university – are easily accessible on foot. The student digs at 13A Hope Street where Kate and Wills got to know each other better is just around the corner.

The service

Several key staff members have been at the hotel for many years, including the manager, Seamus Coen, a former hurling champion and the nicest Irishman to ever hit a sliotar angry. The Seamus team can of course help you with anything and everything related to golf, from photo ops on the Swilcan Bridge to determining the voting system which, in theory at least, allows mere mortals without affiliation to a club to play a game on the Old Course. The acquisition, storage and shipping of golf equipment can also be arranged. Understandably, many of the restaurant and bar staff were, when the hotel reopened, entirely new to the place and their roles, which arguably explains the few wobbly moments this reviewer experienced.

Rusacks is without spa but minutes from the beautiful beach which was made famous in the opening sequence of Chariots of fire. If that isn’t enough to inspire you to go for a run, nothing will.

For families

While there is only one pair of adjoining rooms, there are 22 with sofa beds and three with rollaway beds. The concierge team will assemble tailor-made activity packs for the kids and can arrange off-site activities including water sports, aquarium and museum tours, as well as trips to the nearby Craigtoun Country Park. , which offers a range of entertainment for the weaned, including boating, trampolines and mini-golf (as if there were others).

Energy efficient light bulbs, IP sensors, water saving devices and responsible waste management controls are used.

Accessibility for people with reduced mobility

There is a separate entrance for wheelchairs at the front of the hotel and all floors are accessible by elevators. Three rooms are fully accessible and step-free, with grab bars, a powder room, light fixtures at different heights and emergency pulls. A hearing loop is available at reception, as well as a portable option for use throughout the hotel.

Nothing to report?

Do you see the flag flying over the hole on the 18th green? You will notice that it is white. Yet the other 17 are red. Why?
