Check in to the best restaurants in town
There’s a lot of emphasis that breakfast is an important meal of the day, but traffic jams, work deadlines, faulty alarm clocks and hectic routines take their toll and we end up rushing out the door with a apple in one hand and a cup of coffee in another. So at least on weekends, I make sure to sit down for breakfast, at leisure with a coffee in hand. At Caya, Town Square, I happily replaced the caffeine with a saffron and pistachio latte, and let the soothing and unique blend allow me to welcome the winter sun. This concoction of fresh milk, pistachio paste, condensed milk, etc., with a view of the huge lawns, the children’s playground and even a fountain and carousel, made me feel like I had traveled to another lot for a breakfast (the interior with a minimalist design and massive planters makes for a lovely space as well).
The next step was a haven of greenery on my plate. Since avocado has become the go-to ingredient, I never miss the chance to indulge myself with an avocado toast. And this one came with more tint – green peas and asparagus, along with the mashed avocado. The smooth, creamy taste and light flavor of ricotta added to the meal. It had been a long time since we had traveled and ordered a typical English breakfast (on holiday) of scrambled eggs, beef bacon, beef chorizo, served with grilled mushrooms, caramelised tomatoes and potato cake; therefore, the Morning Life was a perfect choice.
Now, I like the idea of indulging in a three-course breakfast, so it was only natural for me to have a dessert or two. And Caya’s range of treats on display just make it worth having. I’m not a sweet-frosting-melting person, so the frangipane pear pie did my soul good. The classic French tart made with fresh baked pears, plum jam and a sweet vanilla pie crust; and frangipane, aka marzipan, is what you need during the holiday season or just about any other day. A slice of mango cheesecake was comforting, elegant and delicious. I will be back for lunch and dinner for sure, especially to try their new winter menu and of course other desserts.
