Set the scene
Depending on your itinerary, the journey to and from Marbella Elix is as unforgettable as the destination. If you can, fly to Corfu and then take the hotel boat across the ocean to your final stop. You’ll feel fully reset and ready to go on vacation the moment you arrive, having passed countless secret sandy beaches, caves and coves on your way, sea salt pooling to glisten in your hair. Elix’s reception then feels like some kind of celestial spa, with high ceilings and windows that frame the endless view, and even a soothing spa scent that cascades over your senses. The crowd here is very family orientated, with a large number of Brits (we visited during the UK summer school holidays), as well as French and German visitors. Colorful tapestries hang throughout, imbuing the place with local craftsmanship history, complementing the overall mood of modern, sunny luxury.
MarBella Elix is the third in the MarBella trilogy (the hotel brand’s name translates to ‘beautiful sea’ in Italian – and you pronounce the lls): the original outpost opened in a fishing village in Corfu at the end of the 60s, realizing the dream of the founder Vassilis Dracopoulos father. After relinquishing control in the 70s, the Dracopoulos family then reclaimed MarBella Corfu at the turn of the century, leading to the opening of the adults-only MarBella Nido on the same island in 2018, and now MarBella Elix just from across the sea to mainland Greece in 2021.
