What to do?
Golfers can take a two-minute stroll alongside the Andratex Golf championship course, reportedly a favorite of Michael Douglas and Claudia Schiffer. Home to Spain’s longest hole – the 609m ‘Green Monster’ par-five six – it’s a beautiful course shaded by forest, with views of the glistening ocean. Non-athletic sun seekers can continue down the hill for a few more minutes to the resort village of Camp de Mar. Here you can find a strip of supermarkets and pizzerias near the quiet winding beach surrounded by pine trees, and the water is clear and shallow enough for toddlers to splash around in safely.
For chic boutique browsing, take a ten-minute taxi ride to Port d’Andratex, a functional fishing village with seafood restaurants and cocktail bars. Stroll through the market on Wednesdays and inhale the smells of leather handbags, toasted almonds and fresh lemon, before stopping at No. 11 for a crisp Andalusian squid with a tangy mint julep and a lemon mayonnaise.
