Nestled in the hills of Tuscany and only 8 km from the center of Florence, is a 13th century estate that has been transformed into the magnificent Villa La Massa. The hotel itself is split into five buildings and sits on 25 acres of beautifully verdant gardens due to its location on the banks of the Arno River. Each room has been expertly decorated in typical Tuscan style to match their surroundings in the hills of Chianti. Guests can rent accommodations ranging from deluxe rooms and suites to an entire farmhouse, with four suites, kitchen, courtyard and private garden. Perfect for a girls trip or a family getaway! Expect views of the park, the Chianti hills or the Arno River from the room you choose.
What do you consider to be the best room in the property?
We have several rooms that are amazing! There is a Junior Suite, known as the Honeymoon Suite, which has a large glass window overlooking the Arno River and the surrounding Chianti hills. Perfect for honeymooners or couples wanting a romantic getaway.
The spectacular Presidential Suite is a haven of peace and bucolic serenity, surrounded by olive trees and cypress trees in the estate’s 25-acre park, with its own 1500 square foot private garden, from where the view is rich with the colors of the Tuscany. It includes two magnificent suites, a 600 square foot Exclusive Suite (the Arno Suite) and a 500 square foot Junior Suite. It is located in the “Villino”, which has five bedrooms in total, a perfect retreat for a family or a large group, all on the banks of the Arno River. The Parco Suite is also located in the “Villino” and has an Exclusive Suite and a Double Room with stunning views of the Arno River and the Chianti hills.
There are the Colonica Suites which are located in the recently renovated Casa Colonica, an old farmhouse dating back to the mid-1800s. These suites maintain the same Renaissance decorative style as the main building, with floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies, an impressive walk -in in exquisite cabinets and baths. A charming inner courtyard completes Casa Colonica and the Suite and Junior Suite on the ground floor can be connected and share a lovely garden. The beautiful Santafiora stone bathrooms have an impressive bathtub and a separate shower. All bathrooms benefit from natural light. Each Colonica Suite is characterized by a different color palette.

What sights, shops and restaurants near Villa La Massa should visitors visit this year?
Forte Belvedere will reopen soon, in addition to being one of the most panoramic points of the city, it is a precious architectural work built at the end of the 16th century by Bernardo Buontalenti at the request of Ferdinando I dei Medici. It represents the final stage of the Vasari Corridor, created to connect Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens through a series of corridors, bridges and gardens.

We are a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, an oasis of peace and serenity immersed in 25 acres of parkland just 15 minutes from the center of Florence and Ponte Vecchio.
What do you think gives the hotel such a unique identity?
The location is a highlight: We are a beach resort directly on the Arno River but on the doorstep of downtown Florence. Moreover, the historical context of Villa La Massa is really a plus for our clients. When they are at the hotel, they feel like they are part of the old Florentine nobles enjoying their country home. This feeling persists when they visit Florence, a real open-air museum. A truly memorable experience! We cannot forget our amazing staff, who are truly passionate about what they do and work closely together to exceed guest expectations. We want to convey the true sense of place. By offering bespoke service and special bespoke experiences, guests truly feel like locals and fall in love with us, Florence, our Italianità and our authenticity.
Which local attraction do you always recommend to guests?
If they are a novice, they cannot miss the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio and of course Piazzale Michelangelo, one of the best and most famous viewpoints in Florence. In the center of this square, you can enjoy one of the three copies of Michelangelo’s David, this copy was made in bronze.
