Set the scene
Beside Pasha and Marina Botafoch, this city dweller is a striking contemporary addition to the rattan and tassel bohemian of Ibiza Town. Arranged around the green fish scale tiled pool at its heart is the signature Peruvian-Japanese restaurant, which inspires the kind of glamor that sends you right back to your room to try your look harder.

The backstory
Tel Aviv entrepreneur Liran Wizman opened his first hotel almost a decade ago in Amsterdam – and he now has 13 (with two more on the way). Its Sir boutique hotels are cool, modern, and inherently urban, drawing a smart, adult and fun crowd, and Sir Joan brings a touch of the brand’s urban intelligence to Ibiza, fusing elements of Amsterdam, Tel Aviv and ‘Spain. Here, Israeli design studio Baranowitz and Kronenberg have gone on a sort of nautical journey, so entering the open-plan lobby / lounge / restaurant / terrace feels like you are aboard a luxury sailboat, Wooden bridge-shaped floors with hammered steel walls that resemble the surface of the sea, reflecting the ever-changing light.
