The Hilton Singapore Orchard, located in the iconic shopping district of Orchard Road at the corner of Scott Road, has over 1,000 guest rooms and expansive high-tech conference rooms (2,400 square meters of event space). This is perhaps the largest hotel in Singapore and certainly the largest Hilton in Asia-Pacific.
Originally the Mandarin Orchard, Hilton took it over and invested $150 million to revamp the entire hotel. They opened their brand new hotel on February 24, 2022, offering the must-visit Estate fine dining restaurant, arguably the best buffet in town, and a Michelin-starred restaurant.
On the ground floor and first floor is the Mandarin Gallery shopping center. So it’s an elevator to the fifth floor reception in a dazzling and spacious space, stylish in brown and beige tones with black accents. Check-in was quick and efficient, and we were in our room in no time.
There are plenty of room style options that work for city breakers, layovers, and those who need excellent business/meeting facilities alongside their luxury stay.
The Hilton Orchard Singapore has more than 1,000 rooms in 13 types spread over two towers – the Mandarin Tower is a nod to previous owners – Mandarin Oriental – and features energy-efficient technology such as controlled lighting by motion sensor. Ask for a front room for a view of Orchard Road.
I liked the reusable wooden key cards for their eco-friendly vibe, the muted tones of browns and greens, and since I had an executive room – all executive rooms are on the upper floors – it had stunning views.
The room felt a bit small at 29m² however, smart ergonomics and a smartly designed open wardrobe concept offering storage space behind the TV and hanging space behind the long mirror. We had everything we could want, including a king-size bed with four pillows, a small work area, plenty of power points and USB points, bedside light control, an easy-to-miss closet that housed the ironing board and iron, a Nespresso machine, teapot and even a sofa, a small table and a chair.
All rooms have a stylish bathroom with a bathtub, discreet bidet and walk-in shower with ACCA KAPPA toiletries and spare toothbrushes. Ours had lots of shiny black tiles, marble flooring and stylish lighting.
There are five dining options, but surely the most fun has to be the Estate buffet. I’m not one for buffets but I was invited to try it. I’m so glad I did.
We got up several times for seconds and thirds starting with the most delicious duck consommé, the excellent black truffle duck and several styles of skewered meats cooked on a charcoal grill.
Other places to dine are Ginger.Lily which offers a botanically inspired afternoon tea, the two Michelin star Shisen Hanten, which serves Sichuan cuisine by Chen Kentaro; and Chatterbox which offers local specialties.
A magnificent buffet breakfast with international dishes is available at the Estate Restaurant.
There’s an outdoor pool, two 24-hour fitness centers, a kids’ club, expansive business and event rooms, and a ballroom for weddings.
On level 6 is the Club Lounge, with plenty of space for breakfast, lunch or dinner and where many find a quiet corner to work and access snacks and of course, drinks during happy hour .
Rooms start at SGD547 / £338 per night
