Hotel Review: D-Resort Šibenik, Croatia

The hotel I have absolutely no regrets staying in Sibenik, a picturesque town in Croatia just a 40 minute drive from Zadar and Split. As part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, D-Resort Šibenik is easily one of the best in Sibenik. The resort is only four years old and has contemporary architecture, which is a striking juxtaposition with the old town of Sibenik. It is extremely convenient to drive to the old town from the resort, which only takes 5 minutes.

The lobby is very welcoming, which was my first impression of D-Resort Šibenik. The first time I noticed was the large number of books and magazines in the lobby, with home style furniture and sofa that makes me feel instantly at home. If you are driving, there are plenty of parking spaces in the basement garage.

Bedroom The resort has 63 rooms, as well as 3 private villas. I managed to check in on the top floor of the complex which is only four floors. The design and choice of furniture in the room are largely Nordic inspired and are relatively spacious in size between 29 and 35 m² for the standard room.

My favorite part of the room has to be the balcony, which offers an amazing view of the old town of Sibenik, right in front of the sea. The weather in May was a little chilly, but I couldn’t help but have a good time on the balcony with the amazing view just in front.

Other room features include a spacious bathroom, hardwood floors and soundproof floor to ceiling windows, which is ideal for a good night’s sleep if you are a light sleeper like me.

The restaurants The main restaurant in the main resort building is the Art Restaurant & Bar, where breakfast is also held. As with most rooms, the Art Restaurant offers equally splendid views of Sibenik’s Old Town, with an edgy contemporary look.

Although the breakfast is not particularly rich, it makes up for in quality and I really enjoyed my breakfast here.

The installations A 100 meter walk from the main building is the fitness center and outdoor swimming pool. Hotel guests get a free excess to the D-Spa’s indoor whirlpool pool, and that’s also where the D-Gym is located.

There is also a sauna and a lounge area where you can relax and sip tea.

On my way to the fitness center, I also passed the private villas on the property which has its own private pool.

Getting mad If anything, there’s no club lounge per se if that’s something you’re looking for in a resort stay. That said, I prefer to spend my time exploring the charming old town rather than strolling around.

Overall experience I only spent one night at D-Resort Šibenik and wished I had the luxury of extending another night. The service I experienced here is very good, and in fact one of the best in my trip to Croatia. Small luxury seaside resorts have their charm and I belong to this category of customers. Highly recommend stopping here if you are in Croatia.
