Bond Lounge Review | Way of life

Avoiding attempting a cut at home while on lockdown may have saved us from making a terrible mess out of our hair, but it also means that it has been rather overlooked in the last few months. For our first post-containment chop, we went to Bond in Shoreditch, a ladies-only boutique lounge that was recently named a finalist for ‘Best New Boutique Lounge’ at the Most Wanted Awards.

Tucked away on a quiet side street just off Brick Lane, this is a really cool space – think of the vibe of a loft apartment with high ceilings, hardwood floors, exposed brick, and orb lighting. There are only four chairs, so there’s plenty of space, and with hand sanitizer at the entrance, screens between sinks downstairs, and stylists wearing masks and shields, it’s as safe as possible.

The stylists are super friendly and really go out of their way to provide you with personalized service. Salon founder Ursula listened to exactly what we wanted while offering some suggestions on how to refresh our style. In addition to a wash, she applied a hydrating treatment to help revive our dry hair – here they’re using R + Co products, which are vegan, cruelty-free, sulfate-free, and paraben-free. Bond also has full-length basin-level beds rather than just chairs so you don’t strain your neck so much and can relax properly during the head massage.

Ursula got rid of split ends and dead hair while keeping it the length we wanted, and also cut it in a way that added more movement, giving our tired old locks some much needed TLC. She and her team have struck the perfect balance between a relaxed atmosphere and attentive, personalized service, making Bond the kind of salon you always want to come back to.
