E3 2012 Saw 45,700 Attendees, Makes Contributions To Economy

Michael D. Gallagher, president and CEO of the ESA, organizers of E3 said the event saw 45,700 industry professionals attend the biggest gaming event in LA. It grossed more than $40 million in revenue as journalists, analysts, retailers and exhibitors attended from 103 countries.
“E3 2012 focused and harnessed the passion, energy, and excitement for video games and propelled our industry into the global spotlight,” Gallagher said in a prepared statement. “Thanks to our members and exhibitors’ remarkable vision, billions of consumers watched and learned about our industry and this incredible intersection of creativity, technology, and content.”
Gallagher said E3 2012 resulted around 30,000 hotel room nights with over 300 buyers taking advantage of the VIP Retailer Program, a package which included “elite travel, concierge, and hosting services.” The VIP package was sold out in hours and entry limited onto to industry professionals and not the public.
We would have been a part of that though the ESA were very, very slow with our application – ah well there’s always next year (we will be there!) and we’ve covered much E3 content. The venue for E3 2013 will be announced very soon with San Francisco, Chicago, New York and New Orleans amongst the list of candidate locations to hold it.
